Q: What do Brendan Gleeson and Bryan Ferry have in common?

Clotheshorse, Roxy Music frontman and all-around sexy guy Bryan Ferry. “More Than This” is a song for the ages, but he’s a bit of an asshole when it comes to fox-hunting…
A. They both seem to have an inexhaustible supply of sons.
Bryan’s sons are (amusingly) named Otis, Isaac, Tara, and Merlin. Although Ferry is English, he bears an Irish surname, which perhaps explains the Celtic flavor of Tara and Merlin. Otis is no doubt a tribute to the great Otis Redding.

Ferry accepts a CBE from the Queen accompanied by his sons (from left) Merlin, Isaac, Tara, and Otis. I like the broodingly handsome Isaac best!
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is perhaps best known for his role as “Mad-Eye Moody” in the Harry Potter movies, but you may have seen him in Braveheart, Gangs of New York, or The Guard. He too has sired four sons: Domhnall, Bríain, Fergus and Rúairí.
Here we have Brendan with the two sons who are also actors, Domhnall (right) and Bríain (center). Domhnall played Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter movies and has acted in several other Hollywood films, including the romantic comedy-drama About Time, helmed by Richard Curtis, and the Coen brothers’ True Grit. Bríain’s career has been more focused on Irish productions such as the rom-com Stand By and the TV series Love/Hate. Notably, he played the psychotic, hammer-wielding Kenneth in the debut production of Conor McPherson’s play The Night Alive.

I can’t end this post on sons without mentioning that Brendan now has a very recognizable cinematic son. He plays Michael Fassbender’s father in Trespass Against Us, a thriller about an Irish outlaw. It’s currently in post-production.
Rather have the lovely Brendan and his boys any day, Ferry and offspring are such a twats. Sorry, I’m having a blah year, trying to be positive, honestly…
Well, I can sympathize. I didn’t want to write about the twat aspect of the family Ferry but it is definitely there…
And of course, Dombhall(pronounced Donal) is having a great success right now as the second lead in Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken” playin an American WWII soldier~
I didn’t know he was in that film! Yes, his career is really taking off!
Ooh, Isaac is a total hottie!
Yeah, and he looks a lot like his dad in this photo:

Ooh, he does!
Great Irish slant :-). Has CH any sons?
Happy new year to you, Linnet!!!
Happy 2015 to you Guylty!
Mr. H. has one daughter with his partner Hélène. He got started late, when he was almost 40.
Aw, a daughter. Very special 🙂
I’m not fond of Bryan Ferry (and I never liked Roxy Music, especially “More than this”
^^ )
i reckon that I first knew B.Gleeson through MadEye Moody (and his son as Bill Weasley, too).
Glad to hear there’s a movie in post-prod with M.Fassbender and B.Gleeson together!
– Happy New year, Linnet! ^^
Yes, can’t wait to see Mssrs. Gleeson and Fassbender together!
Happy 2015!
Lovely article Linnet. I rather think that Merlin looks very like the young Bryan Ferry. I saw him at Sheffield City Hall a few years back. He was #AMAZING and he literally brought the house down with his rendition of ‘Make You Fell My Love’~ Not a dry eye in the House! I like the Gleeson’s too but I do think that had ‘Yer Man’ sired a son, he would have trounced the rest out of sight. Aoife is very beautiful….Liam has 2 boys as well , has n’t he? Saw him on Graham Norton last night~ lookin’ good. I so wish that Mr Norton could get Ciaran on. Can you imagine Liam and Ciaran together on GN ~ ‘t would be an #IrishFest!
Ah, I would love to see those two together– in anything! Envious that you got to see Bryan Ferry. A unique talent. Happy New Year Dorothy!
Happy New Year Linnet! Typo in there.. ‘Make you feel my love’….Laptop ‘s giving me problems at the moment….
