This easy drinking wine ($20) has an excellent aroma of honey and apple and tastes rich and somewhat sweet, with oak in the mouth. There’s enough acid to make it refreshing, but I recommend it for those who prefer a sweeter white. The combination of sweetness and oak is not something I’d go for every night, yet I enjoyed this wine. It’s bursting with flavor. Meiomi also makes a Pinot Noir, which would be well worth a try.
The Meiomi winery produces blends of grapes grown in Sonoma, Monterey and Santa Barbara. Chuck Wagner, the winemaker for Meiomi, is a fifth-generation viticulturist in California. And I must say, he’s easy on the eyes.
