This post was inspired by Simone (yes, I’m making her take all the blame). She wrote that in Spanish, women say “¡está como un queso!” when they’re drooling over a Beautiful Man. Immediately I thought of the infamous LOLCAT meme and its strange accompanying language.
In my version of LOLCAT, “cheez” has multiple meanings surrounding the two major semantic fields of “cheese” and “sexy man.” I’m not sure whether it works in other languages. We’re about to find out!
Yes, Jean, but…
What about Spanish?
And I couldn’t resist this one:
There is such a thing as cheez overload, but it’s rare.
Usually a kitteh can never get enough cheez.
Men, however can consume way too much cheese…
I couldn’t leave out German. I am told that in Germany, the pairing of mustard with foods is an art. The most crucial pairing is mustard with sausage. Ahem.
The production of “The Crucible” at the Old Vic has been enlivened with a very tasty hunk o’ cheez…
But we all have our favorites, don’t we?
Some of us are quite fierce when it comes to securing our cheez supply.
Others have a more laid-back attitude.
Like any slang term, “cheez” can be used to mean different, but related things…
Some men have too much cheez for their own good. Not that I’m complaining.
It’s no surprise, really, that cheez has conquered the world!
OMG, Linnet! I LOVE this!! Yes I CHEEZ it!! Well done!!
Reblogged this on Obsessive Behavior and commented:
A cheezburger for Fourth of July! Tradtional fare, you know!! 😀
como un queso? ahahaha!!! I had never heard that before…..
It certainly caught MY attention 🙂
Love the Cheez stand alone one 🙂
But of course!
The Dairy State approves this message 😉
Having spent 5 years in Wisconsin, I am a certified “cheesehead”
Look at all those beautiful men! It’s a good thing I am not lactose intolerant. I bet they all pair well with wine too!
LOL! I’m sure they’re all exquisite with a good chardonnay…
Or indeed Sam Neill’s TwoPaddocks Pinot Noir….
I’ll have to try that one!
Sounds like a perfect summer…um…refreshment.
You hit the 100 points, what’s the next level?
🙂 I changed the Wentworth photo and caption to something better (and more obvious). For the next level I’d have to have two weeks off work instead of one day 😉
🙂 🙂 🙂
I adooooore cheese.. 😉 Linking this with your post on Mr. Barry’s novel we should concede Mrs. Sinead Cusack the title of “maestra quesera” as wife, mother and co-worker of beautiful men, shouldn’t we?
I’ve brought the parmigiano 🙂

Yes, Sinéad is like Agrippina the Younger!! With emperors on every side. Lucky lady 😉
Now I need to think of one for Alessio so I can have Italian on my list.
Personally speaking I would prefer to be like Agrippina the Elder… Oh yes, Germanicus… uhm.. 🙂 (this is a perfect example of how to mix classicism and shallowness ;-))
According to a google alert I have received today, Mrs. Cusack’s husband is sharing set now with Tom Hiddleston and Luke Evans. This is what we call in Spain “una tabla de quesos”
😀
Una tabla indeed. I had to look up Luke Evans and I’m glad I did. A bit of Welsh cheez never goes amiss!
LOL! Delighted to have been the inspiration for such hilarity 😉 AND you’ve given me an idea for an upcoming post! If this ain’t blogging bliss, I dunno what iz…
Glad you enjoyed it 😉
I’m having a cheese-induced heart attack 😉
Well, if ya gotta go, death by cheez is not the worst way 😉
Very true!
An absolute abundance of #Cheez’s and non more #Delectable or should I say #Tasty than Ciaran….Those other cheez’s may be Gouda, but Mr Hinds is Feta,,,,.
i’d make him #CheeseOnToast . I think he might like ~ anytimehttp://www.cheese.com/media/img/cheese/portercheese.jpg
Pair Irish Porter with a chilled pint of Guinness stout or Irish porter.
Ciaran Hinds is the true King of the #Cheez’s…..Nacho….
Thanks for the comment, Dorothy! If I had to match him with a cheese, I might pick a good aged Cheddar (Irish of course!).
Brilliant! Cheese, please.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great post (lol!) – beautiful men indeed ^^
Pues, estar como un queso por chico o una chica: igual está muy bueno/a ….
Just love spanish….
Thank you! I like Spanish but my first love among the modern languages is French. And let’s face it, the best cheese is found there 😉
It’s true there are lots of great cheese here (and in the Netherlands too !)
“L’autre pays du fromage” (I didn’t invent this, it comes from a TV ad )
Le pays du fromage! How wonderful. I don’t know any cheeses of the Netherlands except Gouda. Guess it’s time for some research 😉
When I went to the Netherlands , I wanted to buy some cheese to bring back in France. Actually, my ex-husband and I loved all those Gouda but we didn’t know the real names. So we just asked “we’d like a bit of this one” (the orange one we call Mimolette, here), etc, etc.. Every time, the seller answered the same “ok, so …you want this gouda…and this Gouda too” ^^
I guess it’s the land of a hundred Goudas. “Goud enough” for me!
