I made up the Bali part. But after five years of continuous weekly blogging, I am taking a blogcation. It turns out that as much as I love blogging, it sucks up the mojo I might otherwise use to produce fiction. So if I ever want to write a story again, I’ve got to stop, rest, and recharge.

I will miss the regular interaction with all my blogging and Twitter buddies– you know who you are! But I don’t plan to be completely MIA. I’ll stop by and see what you’re doing every now and then.
Au revoir!
That’s a shocker, Linnet. But it makes perfect sense to cut down on the regular blogging in order to free up space for other creative writing. We always forget that you also work full-time, which means that blogging is taking up a lot of time out of your non-work schedule. While I will miss your regular updates here, I am simultaneously looking forward to some great new writing from you at a later stage. I have really enjoyed your fictions (even though I missed the last one – well, now is the opportunity to catch up on it and thus balance out the Linnet withdrawal…), and your posts on literature, life, culture and food. Hope you’ll have lots of fun with your new creative project. And hopefully will see occasional updates here. I’ll keep on the look-out for them!
Thanks very much, Guylty. The hardest part will be tearing myself away from all my blogging friends! I won’t be a total stranger, and I plan to be back at some point, after I see whether my story-writing mojo can be revived.
Oh yes, it is hard to stay away from the blogging community… But I think your creative urge is more important for the moment, so best of luck!
ditto to what guylty said: okay, I can somewhat leisurely? scan thru’ your online stories-in-progress, etc.
Yes, all my archives will stay in place đ
I’ve often wondered how you’ve managed to create the wonderful stories and blogs you’ve shared, as well as traveling and working full time! Do you ever sleep or just relax with your LSH, LOL? So your blogcation is very well-deserved. Too bad it won’t be in Bali, though.
Thanks Karen. I do insist on 8 hours of sleep đ But inspiration often comes in dreams! Maybe I can actually make it to Bali someday, but for now I’ll have to be satisfied with a cocktail that has a little umbrella…
hmmm…. the umbrella thing …
I always liked those little umbrellas.
I’ll miss you.
Thank you Perry. Likewise!
It sounds like a good plan đ
Thanks Sylvie.
đ
Having a blogging break can be a darned good thing. (I myself am intermittent at best at the moment.) Enjoy that cocktail! đ
Thanks Lisa! I keep seeing things I could blog about, and having to resist the urge. Now I just have to re-channel that energy.
Have a good re-charge đșđ
Thanks! I won’t be a total stranger đ
You’ll be missed. Thanks for the laughs!!!
Thank you Pilar!
I’m looking forward to your next project, am sure it’ll happen when it’s supposed to. Isn’t that part of what inspiration is?
Thank you, Ellen. Yes, inspiration is unpredictable, but after it happens, it seems fateful. Whether I have time to develop my ideas is another matter, so I’m trying to make some time and create the right conditions for that. Too bad I can’t go to the West End right around mid-January. Now, that would give me a good dose of writerly energy!
Absolutely, but I believe if not that, something else will come in its place.
Thank you for the positive thoughts!
I can but repeat the “positive thoughts” of the previous commenters. I as much wish you the best in your future work as I will miss the pleasure of following your past work here.
Thanks, mister! I’ll be around from time to time đ
maybe there’ll a pixya or three of you doin’ the Agnes thing! and as I concurred with Guylty — I can more-slowly peruse your fixion, etc. “here” …
drop a postcard (from Bali, and/or umbrella-land) from time 2 time !
I will, thanks for the good wishes!
lovr bali
Just stopping by. Hope your blogcation is going well!
Thank you, Robert. I’m doing lots of academic writing but nothing creative yet. I think I need to go to the inspiration rather than passively waiting for it to arrive.
Ah, that approach usually works for me. Looking forward to your next creative post!
Many thanks!
ah sus/ex-pect that if you find the ‘route’ to the N-spurayshun, you prawbubbly should key pit a seeeekrit ~
sumBuddy has to post here, after a half year! hope it (whuddever ittizz) is going (s)well !
Thanks betunada! I have discovered that reducing my blogging time merely opens up more time for work! But I’m mulling over a possible post…
