I like the name “Highgarden” from Game of Thrones, but looking online, I can’t find that they’ve actually showed what the romantic castle of Margaery and Olenna Tyrell looks like. It’s described this way: The inner rings of Highgarden are a beautiful complex of towers, courtyards, colonnades and statuary, and greenery is just as prominent inside the walls as in the fields outside; ivy, grapevines and climbing roses can be seen snaking around the buildings, and gardens and arbors are filled with flowers. Water features are also common inside the walls, with pools, fountains and even man-made waterfalls visible throughout the complex.
Hmm. Sounds a bit like the glorious Villa d’Este in Italy.
By comparison, my little oasis of green is a Lowgarden, but still very pleasant in high summer.
Wow, that villa is gorgeous! And your garden looks like a nice little haven too 🙂
Yah, I’ve been to the Villa d’Este. The garden is on a hillside and it’s full of water features. Unbelievably beautiful. My garden is past its peak now, but still pumping out tomatoes 🙂
I’ll have the bruschetta 🙂 Oh, and I’ve fixed my site – with the help of WordPress!
oh fresh from the garden! truly the food of heaven as far as i’m concerned 🙂
Indeed they are!
“Mismatched blooms and greenery” – my favorite type of garden. Thanks for sharing yours!
Yes, I’ll take any blooms I can get!

what a beautiful garden Linnet. I like the daisies too and I am the only person left in the Western world who has not seen an episode of Game of thrones 🙂
Thanks, Sylvie. If you’re not much interested in the fantasy genre, I think you can get through life quite happily without seeing (or reading) GoT. It has been overpraised. The best thing going for it (in my opinion) is that there are some strong female characters AND some really Beautiful Men. They have mined the existing British and Irish talent and done some lovely casting. But it caters too much to the tastes of 20-year old, male viewers.

two good reasons for watching 🙂
indeed, my thoughts exactly, if it weren’t for the good actors it wouldn’t be worth watching nearly as much
Yes, that is its saving grace, but I still don’t feel motivated to get caught up with the series. Sigh.
What a beautiful flower garden you have!
Thanks, Guylty! Credit goes to the Long Suffering Husband, who is no fair-weather gardener. He was even out gardening in the rain yesterday.
good thing Betty duzzn’t read this — she’d have ME out in the not-so-fair weather! but she’d LO O OO VE your tiger-lily blooms (and we’re just a little jealous of the moss, ’cause in the semi-desert clime we’re in, THAT’s a rarity)
Ah, thank you! And we are jealous of your sunshine in the winter. I bet there are plants you can grow year-round.
beautiful!!! those flowers look really happy growing in your garden 🙂 i think i miss having a garden much more than i miss having a house..
Yes, it is balm for the soul 🙂
Love the lilies! You are quite the gardener. Wanna come over and fix mine?
I’ll send the Long Suffering Husband, he’s the real gardener 🙂
Works for me! 🙂
