Jellyfish are not to be trifled with, yet few creatures are as beautiful in their fragility.

The Long Suffering Husband took this photo in the aquarium at Golden Gate Park.
The medusa is the third stage in a jellyfish’s life. First they are tiny polyps clinging to a surface under the sea, then they become small floaters, and then they “bloom” into these butterflies of the sea.

pretty when they are floating about like that, i just don’t like touching them in the sea 🙂 but we often had them when we were at the Black sea and as long as one didn’t bother them in their path it was ok, always felt sorry seeing any washing up on the beach…
