It is a little known fact that famed children’s book illustrator E. H. Shepard was a huge Ciarán Hinds fan. Whilst rummaging through an obscure archive in the Victoria and Albert Museum, I came across incontrovertible evidence:
Pooh is said to be a Bear of Very Little Brain, but I think people underestimate him. After all, he invented the game of Poohsticks.
Pooh is a Brave Bear, too, and ready for any adventure.
True, he gets anxious at the prospect of a Heffalump raiding his honey stores. But who among us has not felt the same?
He likes to travel and go on Expotitions (especially if the potition involves Honey). In fact, he is credited with discovering the North Pole in the Hundred Acre Wood.
Pooh has several close friends. We often see him with Tigger, an admirable fellow with slightly too much Bounce.
Pooh has had some startling adventures.
Christopher Robin even made him a knight.
His favorite color seems to be green.
And he’s very good about signing autographs.

The title of today’s post is adapted from A. A. Milne’s book Now We Are Six. Most of the illustrations (by E. H. Shepherd) are from A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, but a few later versions have crept in.
Awwwwwwww, so cute! What a great post!!!
Thanks Herba! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Oh, this is great. What a brilliant idea to put Pooh and CH together. (Does that sound wrong? That sounds wrong.) I smiled all the way through this, particularly the Tigger comparison. A post with a massive smile.
LOL. I’m glad nobody has pooh-poohed the idea 🙂 and that I got up the courage to post it.
Why courage? Sure, this was a very flattering post!! To be compared to an eternal symbol of youth and carefree happiness, well, there’s a compliment in that. Oh, and btw – 62, really? Good man. Virtual congrats from me then, too.
Well, it was such an offbeat idea that I wondered if people would get it. But I need not have worried–apparently his Pooh-like qualities are well recognised, despite the forbidding visage! Which is what makes the comparison so much fun.
Ahhh, LM, I think I just fell in love with you a tad more. (Like, in a totally bloggy chick type way..😳😁) Pooh and Hinds, totally cut from the same cloth. Now I think it’s time to go and have me ‘a little something.’
Thanks Cheer! They are both endearing fellows, fond of a jar now and again 🙂
Great! Thanks. Big scchhmile again.
Delightful, and thanks for the credits after, because I was wondering about few of those pics.
Thanks! Some of these are jokes intended for Mr. H. fans, so I provided a bit of extra help 🙂
Love it! *Snickers*
Many thanks 🙂
Ha ha, you’re mad but very funny 🙂
Not a bad combination 🙂 Thanks!
🙂 Love it!
Thank you!
Oh my!….Love the title! ~ you clever honey bun! How very inventive but it’s only what I have come to expect from you Linnet…

Persuasion & Writing…..Heartfelt words
I only just saw this, Dorothy! Love it! Many thanks 🙂
This is brilliant! You even found the right pics to pair up. I had the privilege to see CH in person when I was at TIFF 2013 (Toronto) at the screening of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her. Yes, back to back both films together. Didn’t mind the length, much gratified not just by the films but the real life appearance of CH, and yes, with Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Jess Weixier on stage.
Lucky you!! I wanted to go to TIFF very badly but I had to work. How exciting to see all those amazing actors together! Mr. H. had three films at that festival (also “McCanick” and “The Sea”).
Brilliant!
Aw, thanks! I never expected such a great response to this one 🙂
i’ve had a wretched week so i am very late to the party but wanted to say what a wonderful birthday post!!! He looks very young and much too fresh to be 62!!! 🙂 And surely Pooh is somebody one aspires to grow into 😉
Sorry about the bad week : (
He does look great–scarcely gray yet, just some salt and pepper 🙂
Lucky man and lucky us too really! May he keep like this for long 🙂
